The Mission: Teaching and Training

Our journey took us to a rural mountain village a few hours outside of Kathmandu. Under the guidance of our host, Dr. Anand, we led a 5-day disciple-making conference for 20-30 local leaders. It was a humbling sight: pastors and their families traveled from across the region, some enduring 8-hour bus rides over rugged terrain just to be there.

We spent our days in intensive 7-hour teaching sessions. I had prepared two lessons for months, but when it came time to teach from Galatians 4, something changed. I felt the Holy Spirit show up with a clarity I’ve never experienced—words were coming to me that weren't even in my notes. It was a vivid reminder: When we say "yes" to God, He handles the rest. I am often tempted to take the wheel, but His plans far exceed my own.

The contrast on this trip was striking. After the conference, we spent three days camping deeper in the mountains, grilling meat and singing songs around a fire with a local church body. I had the profound honor of getting to teach in their village church.

However, back in Kathmandu, we visited a local Hindu temple that I will never forget. It was one of the darkest, saddest places I have ever been—a heavy atmosphere of depression that reminded me of the hollow feeling of Las Vegas. It was a stark confirmation of why we were there: the people of Nepal are desperate for the true hope of Christ.

A Global Brotherhood

One of the most lasting impacts of the trip happened around a campfire where only two of us who spoke English. Despite growing up on opposite sides of the globe, we connected instantly over our shared interests and the experience of being raised in Christian homes. We went deep, sharing vulnerabilities and encouragement.

I didn’t just gain a friend; I gained a brother. We still text and video chat to this day. That relationship changed how I see my own backyard in Jackson, TN. I’ve realized that "the nations" aren't just across the ocean—they are right here. I’ve started looking for ways to connect with people locally with the same intentionality our hosts showed us in Nepal.

Looking Ahead: Sri Lanka 2026

Your support for the Nepal trip didn't just buy a plane ticket; it did a lifelong work in me. And the story isn't over. In November 2026, I have the incredible opportunity to reunite with Dr. Ananda and his disciples in Sri Lanka. We will be heading back into the field to teach and train, following the same model of multiplication we saw in Nepal.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Please join me in praying for open hearts in Sri Lanka and for the continued growth of the seeds planted in the mountains of Nepal.
