Hello, my name is Ananda Tamang. I serve the Lord in South Asia, a region where the landscape for ministry has become increasingly hostile and challenging in recent years. For over 26 years, I have been blessed to be married to my wife, Chiri. Together with our two sons, Shovan and John, and our daughter, Mahima, we serve as a family unit to pioneer, build, and grow the ministries God has entrusted to us.

I grew up in a traditional Buddhist family where my childhood was defined by a single word: fear. I lived with a constant, heavy weight in my heart that one day I would have to give an account for my life to whoever was ruling the universe. Thank God, my parents and my grandfather gave their lives to the Lord when I was about ten years old. And since I was the only one who could read in my village from the Christian community (although I was not a believer yet), I had to read the little old New Testament for my parents, my grandfather, and a few believers who would gather for prayers frequently.
I did not like reading it initially, but there was no choice. I read it for them, but while reading it for two years for others, God captured my heart, expelled my childhood fear because he opened my eyes showing me He was the one who ran the universe and He has already paid my account, so I no longer need to live in fear but in victory.

I believe 'make disciples' of all nations (Matt 28:19) is one of the strongest imperatives in the whole Bible, and it is the only strategy God has laid out in his book to reach the world. I run hard with this, walking closely with the men God has given me to disciple, evangelizing the lost, shepherding the flock of God, and being intentional about multiplying disciple makers. I never do ministry alone; I always have someone with me so that the process is reproduced. My wife does the same with the women God has given her to invest.
My daily life is not linear, but intentional. Every Wednesday morning at 5:00 AM, my home becomes what I call a “Workbench.” A group of 8 to 10 men gather here—some in person and others joining via Zoom from Japan and South Korea—for deep, intentional Bible study. Whether I am teaching in a formal seminary or playing soccer with my men, I am intentional to share the Gospel and model it before them.

Right now, my heart is focused on a new church plant. My launching team and I are working to create a community where the culture of disciple-making is woven into the foundation from day one. Our goal is to launch this community fully within the next 6 to 12 months.
Looking ahead five years, I see this church as a thriving movement of several groups led by mature, qualified leaders. As these leaders rise up, Chiri and I hope to serve even further afield—training pastors in leadership succession, God-glorifying marriage, and providing a "safe place" for hurting pastors to turn their scars into victories.

As we navigate the growing hostility in our region, we invite the MENistry community to stand with us:
Your support provides the tools and resources necessary to plant churches and equip the next generation of disciple-makers in South Asia.
These dedicated men serve year-round. Find a partner to champion with your prayer and financial support.
